Great Giveback at the Road2Hope
On Sunday November 6, 2022, the Wilson Blanchard Management (WB) team participated in The Great Giveback, an Associa-wide charitable initiative by lending our support to the Road2Hope Hamilton Marathon. The Great Giveback program is based on a 10:4:1 initiative where each Associa branch gathers a team of at least 10% of their staff to donate 4 hours of time towards 1 project to help make their community a better place.
After being limited to virtual & distanced events over the past two years, during which we were still able to successfully participate in The Drive for the United Way and The Move for Hunger, WB was excited to be returning to an in-person event this year!
This was the second time we were able to contribute to the Road2Hope fundraising efforts, having also volunteered in 2019.
The Hamilton Marathon attracts over 5,000 runners each year and is known to be the fastest qualifying course for the Boston Marathon. Even better than the high-profile race, this event is known as the “Road2Hope” as it has become a hub of fundraising for many local charities. Each year the race is involved in raising over $250,000 for very worthwhile causes such as McMaster Children’s Hospital, Juravinski Hospital, Autism Speaks, Liberty for Youth, City Kidz, Autism Speaks and many more.
Once again, the WB volunteer team was assigned to the finish line area including handing out water and medals, and staffing the after-race food tent. If you haven’t been at the finish line of a marathon before, it is quite the scene as many runners are achieving a life-long goal for the first time, and it is very emotional and exciting.
Thank you to all of the volunteers for helping to make this a successful day!
